Attar for Umrah and Hajj: What to Pack and When to Wear It

Many pilgrims from Pakistan pack attar for Umrah and Hajj, both to wear at the right times and to bring home as gifts. Here is a practical guide.

Important: there are specific rulings about fragrance during ihram. Wearing fragrance is widely understood to be prohibited while in the state of ihram, and scholars differ on details such as applying it to the body before entering ihram. Please follow the guidance of a scholar you trust. This guide covers practical packing tips only.

What to Pack

  • Small sizes: 3 ml and 6 ml attars are light, compact and easy to carry.
  • The SAFAR SET: safar means journey. Choose any four attars in 6 ml for Rs 1,599. See it in our bundles.
  • Gentle scents: soft musks, sandalwood and rose are traditional choices.

When to Wear It

Follow your scholar's guidance. Many pilgrims wear attar before travelling, between rituals after leaving ihram, for prayers in the city, and on the journey home.

Popular Choices

WHITE MUSK, MUSK SILK, SANDAL, FASLI GULAB and OUD TAYYABA.

Packing Tips

  • Keep caps tight and bottles upright in a zip bag.
  • Check your airline's liquid rules for carry-on bags.
  • Don't leave attar in hot vehicles or direct sun.
