Does your perfume seem to disappear within a few hours? You are not alone. How long a fragrance lasts depends not only on the perfume itself, but on how and where you apply it, your skin, and Pakistan's weather. These simple tips from FAHA Fragrance will help your scent last all day.
1. Apply After a Shower
Fragrance clings best to clean, slightly warm skin. Apply right after a shower, when your pores are open and your skin is hydrated.
2. Moisturise First
Dry skin absorbs fragrance quickly, so it fades faster. An unscented moisturiser or a little petroleum jelly on your pulse points gives the perfume something to hold on to. This matters even more in winter.
3. Target Your Pulse Points
Pulse points are warm areas where blood vessels are close to the skin, which helps the scent radiate. Apply to your wrists, neck, behind your ears, inner elbows and collarbones.
4. Do Not Rub Your Wrists Together
It is a common habit, but rubbing creates friction that breaks down the top notes faster. Simply spray or dab, then let it dry naturally.
5. Spray Your Clothes Too
Fabric holds fragrance much longer than skin, especially in hot weather when sweat speeds up evaporation. A light spray on your shirt collar, scarf or dupatta keeps the scent around you all day. Test on a hidden area first, and avoid spraying delicate silks.
6. Layer an Attar Under Your Perfume
One of the best tricks is layering. Apply a matching, alcohol-free attar to your skin, then spray the perfume version of the same scent on top or on your clothes. Most FAHA scents come in both forms, such as SILVER OUD Attar and SILVER OUD Perfume. Learn more in our Attar vs Perfume guide.
7. Choose the Right Scent for the Season
Warm notes like oud, amber, vanilla, tobacco and leather naturally last longer than light citrus. In winter, choose richer scents; in summer, choose fresh scents with a woody or musky base. See our guides to the best winter perfumes for men and the best summer perfumes for Pakistan's heat.
8. Store Your Perfume Properly
Heat, sunlight and air break fragrance down over time. Keep your bottles in a cool, dark place, with the cap tightly closed. Never leave perfume in a car, on a sunny windowsill or in a steamy bathroom, especially during Pakistan's summer.
9. Carry a Small Bottle
For long days and wedding nights, carry a 15 ml perfume or a small attar for a quick top-up. FAHA perfumes come in 15 ml, and our attars come in 3 ml, 6 ml and 12 ml, all easy to fit in a pocket or handbag.
Long-Lasting Scents to Try
If longevity is your priority, try rich, warm fragrances such as AFTER DARK, DARK MOMENT, DYNAMO and FABLE.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I not smell my own perfume after a while?
This is called nose blindness. Your nose gets used to a scent, but people around you can usually still smell it, so avoid over-applying.
Does attar last longer than perfume?
Attars are concentrated oils that sit close to the skin, and many people find them very long-lasting. Perfumes project more strongly around you.
Does perfume expire?
Stored well, a perfume can last for years. Changes in colour or smell can be a sign it has been exposed to heat or light.
